Hi All
I'm thinking of up grading my forks what should I be looking at as a better for than my recon Silvers, don't want to go mad on the price, but something good for the money and around 100/120mm of travel.

How much better is gold than the silvers, just find it a bit confusing with all the different models.0

Couple of hundred, don't mind second hand.0 -
The Golds will be lighter than the Silvers in almost every model due to the Golds having aluminium stanchions and the Silvers having steel. For Rockshox, in the 100/120mm travel category the models available as an upgrade from yours are:
Recons
Rebas
SID
Rebas are generally the go to fork for your budget and travel requirements. SIDs are usually more expensive and are designed more for XC racing due to their low weight.
For a slightly more Trail worthy fork, you could look at Sektors or Revelations. Both those are generally available in 130-150mm travel so they may not be suitable for your frame/usage requirements.
Merlin Cycles is a good place to start and you also have the Classifieds on this website and Pinkbike if you want to go secondhand.
Hope that helps!0 -
Sektors and Revelations can be spaced down to 120mm but are heavier and more expensive.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Suntour Epicon for £135 on Ebay (UK seller)? Won't be a big improvement in damping, but they'll be substantially lighter, for not much money.0

I bought a set a few months back, and the lad over the road's just bought a set too, the seller's genuine and they are a bargain.0
