I'm cycling 50 miles per day for 50 consecutive days and having reached Day 13, I am permanently hungry.
Does anybody have suggestions as to a healthy, filling and preferably tasty food upon which I can gorge?
Raw celery and raisins are banned for being Satan's excrement.

I try and do 30 miles a day on average and like to mash a baked sweet potato into a wholewheat wrap with a bit of feta, spinach and chillis. It's fantastic!
Edit: The sweet potato can be hot or cold, I usually do a bunch and have them cold but sometimes just ninja one in the microwave and have it hot too.0 -
My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in April this year and is currently going through the various treatments so anyone who raises awareness for breast cancer is doing an absolutely fantastic thing in my books and the effort that you are going to is amazing.
The NHS is actually quite a good source of advice of health and nutrition for sports so it might be worth looking here.....

Others may well have personal recommendations.
Anyway best of luck with the riding and the fund raising"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Mate, the amount of people I've come across who are affected by Breast Cancer since I started this thing....it's bonkers. I've really struggled this week as it's thrown the rain down here in Northumberland but everybody is being so kind and the charity is great.....it kinda keeps me going:-)
Just wish I had more food!!!Getting older and wanting to go further

I like the sound of that. I do something similar with mackeral in a hot chilli dressing stuffed into pitta pockets. NiceGetting older and wanting to go further

To be honest riding that many miles will probably mean regardless of what you eat you will always be hungry!
But you want potatoes (sweet), pastas (lots) and lots of meat. Keep it staple and carb loaded. You need the carbs and protein to aid recovery.Scott Speedster S20 Roadie for Speed
Specialized Hardrock MTB for Lumps
Specialized Langster SS for Ease
Cinelli Mash Bolt Fixed for Pain

Porridge is nice and high in carbs. What I use is Myprotein unflavoured instant oats. It's basically powdered oats which I mix with milk in a shaker. It really fills you up and is very sustaining (and healthy). It's great pre and post ride. I sometimes flavour it with nutella or jam as a treat.
Good luck!0 -
Porridge with seeds and honey.
It's like a hot flapjack 8)"You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
I ride 40/50 miles a day. Have done for years. Best thing to eat is something bulky like a big bowl of porridge or a cereal mix (i mix bitesize shreddies, malt wheats and some muesli along with other stuff to make a varied gutbuster). Don't eat much while riding, save for a coffee and teacake. As mentioned, you need to load up on carbs, so porridge/cereal is the way to go. And milk contains magnesium, which is a great recovery food to help repair damaged muscle fibres.0

+1 for porridge
I like mine made with water a pinch of salt, some honey and maybe a banana sliced into it if I'm in the mood.
Porridge has to be about the cheapest, easiest and best slow energy food. Oats are good for your digestive system too.
If you like it then porridge is a winner on all fronts.0 -
Any recipe where you can mix potatoes and beans, good luck with the challenge!0

Wholemeal toast with Whole Foods Crunchy Peanut butter and banana on.0

Can't really add much to the diet debate, but as someone who lost their mother to breast cancer when I was only 6 years of age, want to wish you the best of luck for the challenge.0

Pasta with chicken breast with some tasty spicy stuff does it for me.
Well done on the challenge, a VERY worthy cause.SC Heckler
