Hey all,

My dad is really into his mountain biking and has been doing it for around 5 years now and currently rides a Giant Trance 27.5 3. I'm wanting to buy him something mountain bike related for fathers day and he has been going on about needing waterproof socks for a while now. I've been researching online and found SealSkinz socks? Are these any good? If not can anyone recommend any waterproof socks or something useful like that for around £30 as I am clueless! :?

Sealskinz are good socks and basically completely waterproof

Otherwise I'd recommend Exceptio sport socks.. They are the comfiest socks I've ever used for cycling although they aren't really waterproof but are splash proof to an extent
  • Ah okay :) I'll have a look into those now. Thanks!

I'd say the Exceptio ones are more of a summer sock and if waterproof is what he really wants SealSkinz are hard to beat
  • With the sealskinz socks. Would thin, medium or thick be best? I'm going to get him those and the Exceptio socks.

It depends how warm you want them to be. Personally I wouldn't get the thick ones as I suspect they'd be too hot in the summer.. but either will be fine with the medium ones being slightly warmer than the thin

As for the exceptio socks I'm using the Endurance and Elite socks
Although the Elite are described as thin they're still a bit thicker than an average sock.. which is one reason they're very comfy

I use the thick merino lined ones in winter.
Don't use them in summer though, because I don't care if I get wet when it's warmer.
