Hey guys!
I've been using this forum a lot recently but only just signed up. Was hoping for some advice for my first bike to buy.

It'd be mainly used as a fitness bike from getting to gym and home... but would also use it to commute socially and probably even for long distance cycling in my free time (i like close to the peak district so I was even thinking maybe a hybrid would be better for the tough terrain around there?)

I have a budget of around 600-700, I don't mind paying for quality, but obviously would want it as cheap as possible.

I was looking at the Specialized Allez as a buy or the Carrera Virtuoso/TDF.

Any input and advice would be welcomed,
Thanks guys!

This is good. A few people have one on here and it gets good reviews. No1 Bike on Wiggle at the moment.
    Great full carbon frameset.

Sounds like you need to decide on what you want. The two bikes you pointed out inc. the Mekk above are Road
    Sport or Racers.
Racers or Road Sport bikes are used for Training, Rides out, Racing, Fitness and Speed. You mainly people on these if they do Road Biking. Space for mud guards and racks is limited.
< I take it that's what your looking at??

A Cyclecross bike is a bit like a Road Sport/Racer but has thicker tyres and more clearance for mud guards etc. Seen with disk brakes. Used for winter bikes, dirty roads, muddy tracks and paths etc. Can be good for commuting. Usually don't have rack mounts.

A hybrid is what some people call a Touring bike. Usually relaxed sit-up-and-beg bikes with space for racks and guards. Used for touring, leisure rides and commuting.

I got a virtuoso it a good bike, mind custom a little bit, tyres bar grip etc if you live in the peak then I guess you have a lot of hills so go with a triple Chain set, good makes are specialised/Boardman/trek if you what to spend more go for a carbon frame, but Ali frame technology is so advance now and nearly as light.
