Trying to look cool with rear rack bag ;-)

VERY annoyed.

My panniers - which were a prezzie from the Mrs years ago and have never been used - nearly got installed this week after I got a disc-friendly rack for my mountain bike. However despite faffing with the placement of "hooks" and things, I just can't place them so my heels don't hit them. Looks like I'll have to flog them.

Now a rack isn't a good look on a mountain bike, and only really looks acceptable on a road bike IMNVHO, but of course having mounted it on the frame I can't get a refund. Now I know I can look for different panniers that won't foul my heels, but in the meantime I want to get something to strap to the top. But I don't want it to look like I'm an old person out shopping, but a rugged adventurous mountain man. But all racktop bags I can see are boxy. I don't want a box. Any ideas?

Stop trying to look cool.

You could always use bungee cords to strap a rucksack to the top.

Any box containing a Jack Russell. Also an old milk crate can look quite fetching.
