Buying advice - Whyte Stirling or Dorset

Hello all
I commute everyday to work (about 8-10 miles each way depending on route). Standard cr*ppy British roads. Currently own a faithful and reliable Trek 1.2 (about 2009 model) and a Felt QX75 (2012). The former is used for fair weather commuting and the latter for the foul weather. Looking to sell the Felt and treat myself to an upgrade. Have a decent LBS (pretty much where I would want to get new bike from). The Whyte Stirling and Dorset have caught my eye. Very different bikes with different componentry, but the same price (£999 - which is my top end budget). I would be grateful for any informed opinions on the "better" bike of the two given their identical price tag and being made by the same company. Reliability and longevity are key; and the new bike would be my foul weather commuter.
Many thanks.
