safe disposal of suspension oil

Thinking of servicing my forks my self rather than sending them off. I was wondering what is the correct way of disposing of the old suspension fluid?
The Rockshox manual states there is ~120m of fluid in the damper. Would I be OK to simply pour this down the drain? I'm thinking no ... Will my local council have something at their waste disposal depot for this kind of thing?
I've done lower leg services before but there is only 5ml of oil to start and when it comes to service time its usually dry or what is left is mopped up with a paper towel and thrown in the bin. So I've never thought about how to correctly dispose of larger volumes of the stuff.

yep thought it wouldn't be a good idea to pour down the drain. I live in flat so no garden and no compost heap. I'll try the local waste depot to see if they have a way to dispose of it.0
