I'm on the verge of picking up a 2011 stumpy expert evo frame (details) but this whole PF30 bottom bracket is really putting me off as I have no idea of it's limitations on crank sets and bottom brackets.
Please excuse my ignorance, the last bb I bought was probably 10yrs ago and was square tapered
All info would be great please, ie what's the most cost effective bb available for this frame, am I limited to SRAM or can I get shimano alternatives, if you've owned one of these frames did you find any issues with the PF30 as all I seem to read about this type of bb is "stay well clear"!!!
Am I just finding all the bad press (pardon the pun) or are these things really that bad I should avoid this ideal looking frame?

After some looking about I've found some PF30 to 24mm converter bottom brackets which has greatly improved my mood and the chances of me picking up this Stumpy
Narrowed it down to these 2 Praxis @ £60 and the Raceface @ £43. Anybody had experience with either or a better alternative? £60 is probably my maximum on this as I'll need a new crankset now as well0 -
I am running one of these - cheaper at £30: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/BBSRPFKCNC/ ... 30-adapter. Seems ok but a bit tricky to get the correct crank bolt torque.
I accidently stood on one of the plastic shims so have just ordered one of these:

Hopefully should be able to use my old Shimano BBs now!0 -
Looks like it should do the trick but I prefer this Praxis as it's the bottom bracket that converts to shimano fitting without added shims. It's a lovely piece of kit and seems incredibly well made so hopefully it'll last long enough to warrant the £60 price tag0
