Garmin 810 vs Garmin 800 for touring

Hi all,

I'm going to be touring over summer through different countries within Europe and I'm looking to get either the Garmin 810 or the Garmin 800 (1000 is too expensive, and I would be my only Garmin to use so I'd like to use cadence etc. so no touring).

The prices on wiggle are fairly similar, you can get the full package of the 800 for £262, or the standalone 810 for £253, but you can put maps on for free (I already have a big enough SD card). Does either model have a big advantage over the other? The 810 supposedly has 17 hours battery life, compared to 15 for the 800 - is this true? I know the 810 has the option of just dropping a point of the map and it will create a route for you, does the 800 offer this as well?

Do either Garmin's have any issues I should be aware of?

Cheers
