Hi im still fairly new to road cycling so my knowledge of equipment isnt the best. Anyway my road bike has tiagra groupset with tiagra pads and i find that the breaking power is aweful and i never feel confident of stopping going down hills. Im wondering if buying some better pads would help or would i need to change the brakes tnemselves. Thanks

Thanks for replies. So basically any swiss top pads will be better

My son's Triban 3 had pretty piss poor braking with the standard pads, I changed them for kool stop salmon if I recall - they're a softer pad and it made the braking alot better. So yes, try Swisstop pads. Typically softer pads will brake better but wear out faster.

Ok. Ill nip into local shop on way to work later and grab some softer pads then. Also im just about to order some new wheels. Would i be better to wait to use new pads until i get new wheels or just stick them on now.

Probably put them on now unless your old wheels are badly worn with grooves on the rims.
