Dragon ride gearing

Riding the dragon ride next weekend. I'm umming and ahhing as to what gearing to ride. Possible on on a 39 with 28 rear or do I need compact?

    Depends how strong your legs are!
    I'm going on 34*27.
    I don't think it's worth buying a new chainset just for the Dragon. If you've done all your training with 39*28 then I would imagine you'd be fine. The only really steep climb is the Devil's Elbow. The others are long (for the UK) but fairly gentle gradients.
