This complete idiot gives cyclist a bad name if anyone is wondering what I'm on about its a tv show on channel 4 where this idiot is in London cycling through and around traffic with his 8 go pro's recording and posting "evidence " on you tube he is just asking for trouble yes there are idiot drivers out there that don't give a *+#% but really is there any need for this? I'll be shocked if he hasn't had a few punches for his attitude

Yes we have all been in the situation of a near miss of been knocked off but really banging on cars and busses is not the right way but it's the right way to get someone firing on all cylinders
When i die I just hope the wife doesn't sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it other wise someone will be getting a mega deal!!!

Darn I actually started a similar thread on the "commuting" section but yes . He kits his bike up so much it becomes so intrusive even to other cyclists . His horn is loud and obnoxious and damn how many gopros has he duct taped onto that trek!
He even blows through a red light at the beginning too

+1. Fair play, is my view. The guy got hit previously, we have all had near misses from drivers not paying attention or being intentionally aggressive, and I give the guy due credit for at least trying to raise awareness. He may be eccentric, but everyone is entitled to their 'cause' and he's not harming anyone as far as I can tell.

The way I see it, if he manages to prevent even 1 person being hit by making a driver think about how he/she is driving, even if only for the rest of that commute, then he's done a good deed.

I don't watch Channel 4, but I did see an older guy on a recumbant a couple of days ago, who had four GoPros mounted back to back on a post behind his seat. It looked a bit like a Google Earth/maps setup for the amateur. Watching all four can't be very exciting viewing, so I guess he was waiting for some incident to be recorded.

Trouble is it doesn't raise any awareness whatsoever. Instead its a point and laugh freak show.

It puts cyclists even further up the rankings of annoying road users in many peoples eyes.

Being a total dick towards people doesn't work.

I think some people ride with cameras on their bike/helmet in an attempt to catch bad drivers, drivers doing things they shouldn't be, drivers who think they can do what they like or to provide evidence should they see or be involved in an accident. but there will be a few cyclists who ride with a camera, who will make a big deal out of the slightest thing and will also try to provoke a driver in to hitting them just so they can catch it on camera.

If you watch really carefully there is a scene where he pulls away from a park and rides straight through a red light!

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

    ^ This.
  • I've met this guy, I used to work in a print shop and he was asking to print some cards to tell people off. Was pretty amusing but I quite liked the fact that he was happy to stand out and do his bit to protect cyclists even if it is a bit extreme. Seemed like a decent man and thankfully didn't complain about me!

Hello by the way, I'm new to this part of the forum, only really been looking on the classifieds section! Will hope to post more on here.

I understand the point the guy's trying to make but IMO he's going about it in the wrong way. If you're running red lights and generally being over the top you're going to distract drivers rather than making them aware a cyclist is about.

Whilst I can appreciate that it may be annoying to other road users, I find the whole red card system and numerous go pros hilarious. Good on him!

This. My (non-cyclist) colleagues were all discussing this at work today, and came to much this conclusion. This idiot is - and doing a brilliant job of it - only doing us all a disservice, and needs to pack it in.

Some non-cyclist people I know now call us "wobble heads". Becuase of either the arrogant a-hole cyclist shake of the head or the "what are you doing?" shake of the head .

Funny side is that he boasts hes got £1800 worth of Gopro cameras on his trek .
I think i could have picked up at least 3 of his ageing hero 2s for under £300

I think that it is admirable that he's out there trying to make the roads safer etc, but as others have said, not sure it's quite the right execution.

He completely lost me however with the red card thing... As if showing that to drivers will make a difference, just makes him look like a bit of a prat.

Apparently one of the drivers subject to this informed his boss that he would be out for a few days as he was subject to a three-commute ban...
