if you were to lay out the pictures end to end, i'd guess about 6.3 miles

If we reenact Galton's ox we will guess it. Wisdom of crowds and all that. 5789

I reckon it's a trick question and they've been hanging in a shed so I'm going for 0 miles (excluding delivery mileage).

I reckon you have been back pedaling with them, therefore -2 miles.

I'm guessing that is 39 different chainrings rather than 39 pictures of the same chain ring. So my guess is 478,542 miles.
    Faster than a tent.......

Could you take the pictures again on perhaps a red background?

I'm going to have to give a clue at this point : It's marginally less than the combined post count of the 3 wise men who responded first.

Yeah, well that's not helping. How are we supposed to guess the mileage with only two photographs available?

From an engineering standpoint we would need to know the condition of the chain or chains as a function of mileage as wear is related to chain pitch. We would also need to know exactly the number of revolutions in each gear ratio and the wheel size to enable us to work out a mileage travelled.

Apologies if you were looking for a guess.

Is this a "I'm really p!ssed that the anodising has worn off my chainring from shifting a lot" thread ?
Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

I need to know if I need to be impressed that anything vaguely still resembling teeth remain or if I should be unimpressed that it looks quite worn after a nip down the chippy.
If we don't know what we're supposed to think, how can we avoid looking foolish like the foolish men in the emperors new clothes.
  • Now the real question is 'How many foolish men were in the emperor's new clothes?'

The supplementary question is 'How many men are in the clothes at once?'

I refer you to my last post (incidentally that has FA to do with a trumpet) it' a couple inches up the page, I'm sure your NECK will reach. Loperamide , mittens and/or Gaffa tape should help your condition. It's not a cure but it helps make the symptoms a lot less irritating (to others) :D
