Looking at a second hand fork for the frame that I've bought. Needs to be 170-180mm travel. Looking at the following
Fox 36 float 180mm rc2 fit
Rockshox lyric rc2dh 170mm
Xfusion vengeance r/ vengeance hlr (big difference?) 170mm
Others?
I've heard a few bad things about fox, issues regarding frequent servicing etc.

Lyrik RC2DH is one of the best forks I have had, they feel just like my Boxxers.
Totems are worth considering if it's a heavy duty, heavy hitting bike.
Marzocchi 55 rc3 are really nice, probably better than the Lyrik. Just don't buy a pre 2010 model.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

the Domain 318 on the Votec is great just a bit weighty but for sub-£150 it gives a plush old ride"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Nice bike. I'll probably be putting the coil Lyrik onto mine in the near future...or the Pike, can't seem to make my mind up"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Ive got 160mm Lyrik R on my Mega and they awesome even without any compression damping. You could quite easily pick up a pair of sh RC2DH Lyriks for under/around £400. Just gotta wait for the right ones to appear!
I'm sure you're aware but just incase not, the 160mm Lyriks are just 170mm with a spacer in the air spring so either would work for you!0 -
My Lyriks started out as a Lyrik R and ended up witg RC2DH compression and rebound damper, the difference was huge. I really didn't like the basic version, no compression damping at all so it wallowed and blew through travel. With the upgrades it was much more controlled.
I think I would have a Marzocchi 55 rc3 over even the RC2DH Lyrik.
If you do get a Lyrik go for coil, not air. Heavier but much plusher and more responsive to small bumps.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Hmm. Looks like a lyrik rc2dh then, well I was leaning towards a lighter fork (and thus getting air), think the frame is about 4 kg - 2009. Is that particularly heavy? I was also hoping I might be pushed to the vengeance to see what xfusion is like, I've heard a few people say they're good. No ones suggesting fox then huh0

Go coil on the Lyrik, when I had mine upgraded TF Tuned told me that going to coil is one of the best upgrades for an air Lyrik and they do loads of them. It's not much of a weight difference.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Yep - I'm def leaning towards the Lyrik too. Are they planning on updating it with a newer version any time soon?
Does that normally effect prices of the old (current) version with forks or not really?"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes
