“He had to do lots of interviews,” explained Froome. “I heard him say something like: ‘A fantastic day for the team. Chris winning the stage; I’m in the yellow jersey. Great.’ Then he added: ‘Now he’s got his stage win, he’s going to be an integral part of helping me to try to win the Tour.’

“I thought it was such an arrogant thing to say: Chris has had his little moment, now he can concentrate on his real job.”

That's exactly what a captain thinks and what a domestique has to do, not sure the boy was ever educated into cycling... he probably thinks it's a bit like football, where everybody is a star

    Also...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG2zyeVRcbs&feature=kp

I'm not sure Froome intends to channel Miley Cyrus but there you go... Maybe he's a massive fan.

EDIT - Wow the lyrics are instructive!

    I can almost see it
    That dream I am dreaming
    But there's a voice inside
    my head saying
    You'll never reach it

    Every step I'm taking
    Every move I make feels
    Lost with no direction
    My faith is shaking

    But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
    It's the climb

    The struggles I'm facing
    The chances I'm taking
    Sometimes might knock me down
    But no, I'm not breaking

    I may not know it
But these are the moments that
    I'm gonna remember most, yeah
    Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
    Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
    It's the climb, yeah!

There's always gonna be another mountain

Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
    It's the climb, yeah!

    Keep on moving, keep climbing
    Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, oh oh oh whoa!

All this extract does is show that this does really work

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

The most amusing part of the whole thing is Cavendish IMO, the rest of it is meh. Wow, Wiggins can act like a petulant child, what a surprise. Froome seemed a bit naive, colour me shocked.

I reckon the problem here is relationship can recover from from things - The exception being contempt, and there appears to be that on both sides.

My first thought was the chaos is a ladder speech from GoT...

I love that speech. I don't know what it says about me that I thought of the song. To be fair I didn't know it was Miley Cyrus, I had to look it up.

If Froome was a GOT character who would he be? Surely he can't be Petyr Baelish or can he...?

Hmm now my first thought was Varys as the voice kind of matches and he just sort of seems to survive when all around him is chaos

However everyone will focus on the whole eunuch thing and Varys doesnt have a wife to be Michelle Cound...

Who has a wife? Tyrion (is Froome smart enough to be Tyrion?) Joffrey (that didn't work well for him), Robb Stark (didn't work out so well for him), *SPOILER* Petyr had a wife (didn't work out too well for her...)

OK another question, who has climbed the ladder of chaos best at Sky?

I haven't read the Wiggins book so I can't comment on what he's said about Froome but Froome is completely out of order writing that about a team mate.

I think if he was Richmond Racer would fling herself into a river. Or at Bernie. One or the other.

He's not really gay though, is he? Basically if you're warm he'll be game. Although I suspect if you presented him with a white walker with good abs he'd go there too.

Richie ridden for Saxo and for Sky, so he's done the good / evil thing, so you could say he swings both ways too

The daily mail interview from the other day conjures up some horrific images of a topless Chris Froome

For the sun worshippers of the Cote d’Azur, the sight of a Tour de France winner emerging from the sea with a spear gun in one hand and a large, dead fish in the other must take some beating.
  • I'd always assumed that Froome was basically a pretty decent bloke, but this stuff does make me question that. There's some interesting comments on the Telegraph article about Froome lettting Wiggins do all the work on the front of the infamous 2012 TdF stage 11 ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/others ... tions.html ), which seem to be confirmed in Froome's book with him having his contract ready for SDB. I have no doubt that Wiggins can be difficult, but I'm starting to understand why he's not keen on Froome-dog.

The implicit criticism of the Sky team doesn't seem to smart either - biting the hand that feeds him?

Bit disappointed that no one seems to have made the Cersei/ Michelle Cound connection yet, I was really hoping for some kind of photoshop mock up!

From what I've heard, Froome is an order of magnitude easier for the team to deal with than Wiggins.

I think there's enough of the story around that you can get the feel for what happened. The Cavendish piece is the interesting part to me.

Also, if you're the team leader, why try communicate through management? Why not just have a face to face? For someone who seems to love talking when a camera is pointing at them, calling the public w.nkers etc yet has a problem talking to someone he see's day to day? Odd.

I opened up paint, but it was a bit beyond my talents.

Much as I'm a Wiggins fanboy, I can't blame Froome at all for being a little peeved over how 2012 played out. If he re-signed with Sky because he was given assurances he would be protected in the 2012 Tour, then he had every right to be angry. There was no reason to not have half the team wait for him when he had his mechanical on stage 1.

This is interesting to me too. Especially as in public at least Wiggins and Cav seem to present a 'no hard feelings' front.

If you put a 100 people in a room that knew who Wiggins and Froome were, then gave them the choice of going for a drink with just one of two, Froome would probably be going for a drink on his own. Also, I bet he's about as crap at drinking as he is at having a personality.

The clue for Froome should have been when Wiggins was team leader in every single race that year.

Yes, but I believe the other guy is more popular on the team.

    So there you go.
