I have a set of mavic cosmic carbone with 60mm inner tubes just sticks out of the rim not enought to get my pump on properly. Could I get an adapter to make it bigger pump the inner tube up and then remove the adapter. I tried 80mm inner tube but they look horrible. Cheers

Yes - look at CRC : I think they have Zipp ones that do this. Definitely some on there that would fulfill this function, however as I'm engrossed in Ghost Rider I'm not heading across to look.

    Or get shorter valves extenders.

Or inner tubes with shorter valves. You then can take out the old ones and set fire to them, which is nice.

    A veritable myriad of options.

as above, the zipp type could do it

bear in mind, if the tubes have removable cores you need to do them up really *tight* otherwise the core will tend to unscrew when you remove the extender, all this and more is explained here...

Zipp make extenders in 25, 40, 60 and 80mm lengths.

I wouldn't remove them from the valve. Constantly refitting and removing them will likely abrade the tube against the rim, around the valve.
