Cable rubbing on new Ultegra 6800 shifters
I've just upgraded my shifters to Ultegra 6800 (including new cables) and now whenever I pull the lever, I can physically feel the cable being pulled through the mechanism. It's a little hard to explain but it no longer feels smooth and fluid as my old 105's did. Both shifters do this. I have checked to see if the cables run through the channel inside the shifter and they both appear to so I'm out of ideas. Both levers and brake calipers work correctly. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah I bought the entire groupset so replaced everything. I even followed the shimano online tech docs word for word just to be sure. I'm baffled0

Is it bar taped yet??
I'd suggest undoing the cables from the mechs, and seeing if you get the same drag with just the shifter and cable to eliminate cables and stops as my thought would be the cables rather than the mech.
is the little teflon guide in place???0 -
It did it before I even connected it to the brakes. I put some tension on the cables with my hand and it still did it. The guides are in place on the shifters yeah. And by that I assume you mean the little black inset that sits where the cable leaves the shifter and heads into the cable outer. The bar tape is back on now but I'll have to remove it I think0
