Praxis Chainrings + FSA SLK Light or Ultegra 6800 + Adaptor

I want black chain rings. No practical thinking behind it, purely aesthetic. I can either go Praxis Chainrings on my existing FSA SLK Light Carbon or get the 6800 Crankset and the BB30 adaptor. I have all 6800 components outside of the crankset. Both work out at the same price.

  • I swapped out an Ultegra crank for the SLK, its only a couple of hundred grams but always feels better when riding
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

Why are these the only choices? FSA make black chain rings, not that there's anything wrong with Praxis. I would have thought SLK > 6800 to be a backward step?!

The only FSA black chain rings I can find aren't all black, they have a weird uncoated inner cricle, so it's just a circle of black and looks worse than the all uncoated ones I have at the moment. If there's other options I have failed to find I'd be happy to hear though, I've spent ages looking and am going a bit cock-eyed.

Ha ha, no you're right they're not completely black, guessing not stealth enough looking for you. Ultegra is more grey than black, do I would have thought SLK + Praxis would look blacker than Ultegra.

Yeah it does. I mean I have the SLK arms that have the stealth logo too but the carbon isn't black black but it's not bare metal hehe. I think the Praxis chainrings are the no brainer really, it's an easier job and everyone seems to rate Praxis chainrings. I do like the look of the ultegra crankset though, with the hidden bolts etc. and the idea of having the complete groupset as a result, but Praxis is also added bling I guess!

I wouldn't worry if it's a complete set, or a non complete set, but probably better crank. If you like the way the ultegra crank looks, have you looked at the new K-Force 4 arm crank, it can be had in black/grey rather than black/red/white which I think looks very nice. Also ultegra as you say would need an adaptor to make the crank 30mm rather than 24mm axle.

The arm is fine http://i.imgur.com/teeomXV.jpg this is my current one, the SLK logo is almost invisible in the carbon. It's just the chainrings hehe.
