I have just replaced some 2003 Mirage shifters with 9 speed Xenon comparables from this decade.
I was always used to the LH shifter on pure friction and the the RH one indexed.
When it came back from the shop the LH shifter was, I would say indexed. Big jumps which just about match the chainrings.
Anyone any ideas how I can get the LH shifter back to what I am used to?

Thanks in advance, David

You have the 'Escape' version which only does single chainring jumps down - and one trim click going up. It's the forerunner of Powershift. the right escape version thumb lever only does one sprocket at a time too. You're used to the 'Ergopower' or 'Micron' versions.

They bought the Escape versions in on the bottom ranges for a few years before they bought in the Ultrashift type 3 levers. Most folks seem to have hated them.

Don't mix up 'Escape' with QS. QS (QuickShift) was for the front mech only and was a shorter sweep with less play.
