Do you get dodgy frame's on ebay. There's a brand new Bianchi Sempre frame on ebay, and when the close detail photo's are compared with photo's on the net, some thing's dont match up. For example the cable routing cover's are square cornered, where as on my bianchi's and other's on the net they are round, also the the uci badge is at the front of the frame on the ebay one, where as the other's are at the rear

There are lots of fakes on Ebay, probably most of them are fake.

And those that aren't fakes are stolen.

    Buyer beware.

I wouldnt buy a frame or bike from ebay that didnt offer cash on collection, gets round the fake/non existent things but not quite as good for stolen bikes.

I inadvertently bought a stolen bike from ebay a couple of years ago, despite insisting on cash on collection, checking all the 'stolen bike lists' for days on end and asking for an original receipt for the bike, which was produced. Fake obviously, but what can you do? If in doubt, throw it out!

  • Sold my last few bikes through ebay, always offered a full inspection at my house to anyone who wanted one and would expect the same if I were buying. Some basics a genuine person would be happy giving you. Proper house address, Landline phone number and not just a mobile and their full name. Check there basics out on 192.com and don't turn up to some dodgy looking house with cash on the hip whilst on your own. Also if some one is selling a 5k bike quickly for 2k then your asking for trouble..

I've sold a few completely genuine, as described bikes on e-bay. I always state that I have the original receipt - but nobody ever asks for it. I understand the need for caution, but not all e-bay sellers are dodgy.
