Planet X Pro Carbon

I know, another Matt Black bike, but I like Matt Black.
It's a Planet X Pro Carbon, with full Ultegra.
My first Road Bike since my Raleigh Micron 5 from the early Eighties, quite some difference, only had a quick spin round the block, but very impressed.

Nice but you need to sort the bars (they need tilting upwards) and slam that stem.
Some P/X or Chinese 50/60s would look smart on that as well. No the pointless alloy rimmed jobs but tubs.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Nice, but presumably you've not set the bars/levers properly yet?0

What's the obsession with slamming stems ???
PS ...Nice looking bike0 -
yeah, nice enough rig.........
but please sort the bars/sti's otherwise you'll sprain both wrists (unless you want to look all 1990's Yatesy?!) ?!0 -
Just sorted bars, having not had a road bike before was not sure on the positioning, they feel, and look much better now!
Thanks for the advice.0 -
Enjoy it0

+1. You see a lot of people talking about 'slamming stems' on here. It seems to me that people look at the pro's set-ups and want to look like them. Next we'll see people out on a sunday ride with full team kit on, riding £8k replica team bikes . I suppose looks override function for some. Each to their own.
Nice bike mate, don't worry about that stem.0 -
Saying to slam the stem is pointless, it all depends on the physique of the person riding it, and the geometry of the frame. I've finally "slammed" the stem on my Rourke after some months, but the frame has a longer head tube than normal so on a Cannondale 54cm CAAD frame I'd need a few spacers to bring it to the same position.
To the OP - the top flat part of the bars before they drop down after the first curve, should be horizontal i.e. parallel with the ground. The flat part of the levers where you rest your hands should be somewhere between horizontal and sloping upwards a bit towards the front.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels
