Colnago C59/C60 Build Times

I'm currently considering taking the plunge and buying a C60 frameset in a 48s. I've spoken to the local dealer and he told me that he can get hold of a white Italia immediately but anything else would be max 12 weeks build time. I like the white but I think I prefer one of the classic colours so I'm looking at a factory order. However I'm riding the RdGA Geneva to Nice early September so I'd need the frame before the end of July so I could get it built and road tested in time.

My question is really directed a current owners who have been through this process. Is the quoted max 12 weeks realistic or is it an Italian 12 weeks?

Cheers
Paul

I ordered 2 C59s at various times. The first one early in the C59 product life took longer than the estimated time, the second one when C59 was a mature product was spot on. One consideration is that deliveries out of Colnago can be a bit erratic during July/August and if you definitely need it by the end of July, that could be a factor.

By the way I was quoted 8-10 weeks a week or so back.

I had heard about delays during the July/August holidays which is main reason I posted to try and get some kind of confirmation. I could take the white Italia which isn't the worst but I have a feeling I may regret not waiting for my first choice later.

I've never ordered from the factory (nearly did about 6 months ago and was advised to never expect anything as it's the only way you won't be disappointed).

I have lived in Italy though and lived with an Italian. July and August (and indeed Christmas) are a complete write off in terms of industrial output. It's not just the fact that nothing happens, but much of the rest of the world carries on, so when they do all return to work in their post holiday stupour, the backlog is what causes massive problems. As i say, i have no direct experience of Colnago, but if i were you, I wouldn't risk it. Your lead time is going to fall directly into that period.

Out of interest, have you spoken to Mike at Maestro? When i was considering a C59 last year, he was very honest about the lead time issues. Expect nothing and you might be nicely surprised.

Order the colour you want and cross your fingers. You want it to be perfect, right?

I think the expected times are in the right ballpark most of the time, sooner you get the order in the better of course.
