Servicing

Quick question , it's my birthday soon and I'm struggling for things for my family to buy me.
Suddenly dawned on me my summer bike has done 2000 miles mostly dry weather would it be beneficial to get a full service as desrcibed here

I know people will say do it yourself , but I genuinely don't have much if any interest in bike maintenance with the exception of oiling the chain and puncture/ tyre replacement. It's a relatively expensive bike £1'800 ~ so I don't want to mess anything up
So I guess my question is , does my bike need a service regardless of who is going to do it .....

Most of the stuff on your bike will be fine and not need replacing although after 2000 miles the chain will probably need changing.
The hundred quid buys you a complete strip down, clean and rebuild which is almost certainly overkill. However, if they are a good shop and I am sure they are, you will get back a pristine bike and the knowledge that anything worn will have been replaced (although at extra cost). It is about 90 minutes to strip and rebuild a bike only you can tell whether the new feeling is worth the money.
You will get about three quarters of the effect by cleaning the frame and transmission and relubricating the bike yourself.0 -

No it won't if its been cleaned and looked after regular like.
Personally, I'd clean and lube myself and spend the money on a sunny weekend cycling away from the wife and kids.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

It depends on how you value your money and your time. For me the best birthday present is a lovely ride on my bike, so may be suggest a night over at a B&B with some riding the day before and after!
Fortunatly for me, my cycle club are doing "the long one" on Sunday 22nd June - 150 miles to Beachy Head (its a return trip!), which is 3 days before my birthday. Therefore I get my birthday treat for freeWyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels
