Hi...

I am trying to find out about some DT Swiss Etrto 4.0 Wheels for a friend.

Does anyone have them? I THINK it's possible they are OEM only from Specialized. I know the description might only be the rim though.

If anyone has some info, even if it's some specific models of Specialized they came on then that would be great. Also, I'm trying to find out their value, or predicted new value ballpark if they are oem only. Information about weight and spec would be good too!

I'm trying to help someone ascertain a buying price and make sure they don't pay too much (for a new set).

Thanks for any help!!

I see someone had asked Specialized:
Can someone provide information on the DT Swiss Axis 4.0 wheelset that came with my 2013 Roubaix Expert? I'd like to know anything weight, hubs, spokes, etc. Thanks.

    With the reply:
Because those wheels are OEM, we don't have a lot of information on them. Here is the information I was able to find:

    · Rear Hub: DT Swiss Axis 32 hole, 3- cross lacing on drive side, Radial on non-drive side
    · Front Hub: DT Swiss Axis 24 hole, Radial lacing
    · Hub Color: Black
    · Compatibility: Shimano/Sram 8, 9, 10
    · Rims: Etrto 4.0, machined sidewalls, 700c, 14mm width, 28 mm height, Clincher, Presta Valve
    · Rim Color: Black with machined side walls
    · Spokes: DT Swiss double Butted
    · Spoke Color: Black
    · Hub Spacing: 100 mm front, 130 mm rear
    · Weight: 1,700g

Thanks for using our products! Happy riding!

So it turns out they are probably the wheels that came on a 2013 Roubaix Expert, and that they are Axis 4.0 (Etrto 4.0 is the name of the rim) ... I am thinking if they are new and I was to compare them to Fulcrums, they might fall between Racing 7 (£125) and Racing 5 (£180), as one of those is a bit heavier and one is a bit lighter. Does that sound about right?

    SO, basically a £150 wheel?

I bought some off ebay yesterday so haven't been out to test them just yet - I guessed around the same level as you.

I found the same Specialized service desk answer as above (a quick check on some old kitchen scales and they seem closer to 1800g without skewers - though most quoted wheel weights are apparently optimistic)

They seem to be the top level of the OEM DT Swiss Axis range and are about the same weight as some Ritchey DS Pro's I have, lighter than some 2010 Mavic Aksiums on the same scales.

A few mixed reviews but I put this down to them being found on relatively well specced Specialized bikes rather than their performance.

Will be testing them out this/tomorrow evening & let you know how they seem.

From just a short ride with 25c tyres they seem to role well, very smooth.

Compared to Ritchey Pro DS perhaps feel a touch slower in acceleration though may well just have been me.

    Quicker/better ride than Shimano r501's.

Given some of the reviews I had read was worried they may be a bit too flexy - perhaps varies between individuals but seemed less flexy than 2010 Aksiums that I ran a while ago.

Overall not bad wheels - a bit of an upgrade from base models, not the quickest but smooth, good for training/putting in the miles.

So about what I thought really, a decent training wheel much like most that come with a bike.
