Where to go for Leisurely holiday with some cycling
I'm buying a mountain bike for my GFs birthday so we can go cycling together. We're both in our 20s, and are interested in exploring on bikes. So we don't want to cycle 100km a day, or do extreme downhills. Something like, cycling through some nice hills, around lakes, by rivers, stopping off at a pub for lunch, etc...
I was thinking of the South Downs, but wanted to be near to a town so in the evening we have options for dinner and a pub.
Also considered the New Forest, or simply a coastal town like Poole, Bournemeouth, etc...
We live in Reading, so somewhere within 2 hours would be good.
Any tips please?

Apparently New Zealand is now within 2hrs of Reading. They have some good riding there, so I know where I'm driving this summer.Check out my site - http://www.trail-dog.co.uk
