Specialized frame life warranty - advice required

Hi
I'm looking for advice from people who had experience of dealing with Specialized's frame life warranty.
My '07 Stumpy FSR has developed a crack around the seatpost collar, near to the seatpost clamp, so I'm going to claim on the warranty. I've been informed by my LBS that It's unlikely to be repairable & Specialized would probably replace the whole frame.
I'm the original owner & have proof of purchase. I bought it from a shop about 300 miles away via their website. Do specialized insist on dealing with the original shop? If not, & presuming they won't deliver direct to me, can it be any LBS or does it have to be an authorized dealer? If they don't have an old '07 frame do they place with a more modern model?
Regards
Dave F.

Ask your local specialised dealer, they will have a better idea than people on the Internet.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Their website (http://www.specializedconceptstore.co.uk/warranty) has details of the current warranty arrangements, and they say thatIn order to exercise your rights under this limited warranty, the bicycle or frameset must be presented to an authorised Specialized dealer, together with a proof of purchase.2015 Canyon Nerve AL 6.0 (son #1's)

I had to claim when I cracked a frame, I took it to my local Specialized dealer for inspection and they advised I would have to go back to the supplying dealer. I called them up and sent pictures which they forwarded to Specialized - who were really good and agreed to supply a new frame. They gave me the option of a new frame in the post or sending my bike back and they would transfer the parts over. I had arrange to take it back to them or post it as I got it originally through cycle to work on the internet, but they posted it back for free and they even fitted new gear cables etc. when they rebuilt the bike - but I don't know if that was the just the dealer or Specialized that agreed to that part? The only very slight issue was as my frame was 3 years old I ended up with a different colour scheme. I've heard some people who had to make claims ended up with whole new bikes as they didn't have 26'r frames available anymore? Anyway I bought a new bike in a panic I'd miss the whole of that summer but all in it probably took around 3 or 4 weeks before I got the bike back.0
