Looking to make a start in Triathlon, can't decide whether to get a middle of the road bike and keep it for a while like this one:

2014 MERIDA RIDE 91

or get something much cheaper like this one:

Reid Osprey Elite

and upgrade in a year or 2 when I'm much fitter.

Anybody own a Merida Ride or similar? Is it a good bike?

Local dealer sells plenty of them over here. I've seen one in the flesh and ridden other bikes in the Merida range (not that model). They seem pretty good to me. Generally good value for money and nice frames. Can you try one out? I'm guessing there aren't that many dealers local to you...

There are a couple of local dealers but they have a very limited range of road bikes, they mainly have mountain and budget bikes. The ones they do have are usually well above my price range.

I might just take a gamble and order one. :)
The 1 review I managed to find said they were pretty good.
