Orange Five chain line during travel

I have gone double and bash with a Blackspire Stinger on my Five.
When I shortened the chain, I went big/big ring + 2 links. I didnt take into account the Stinger and so it seems a little tight, but acceptable as I dont ride in big/big combo anyway.
I let the air out of my shock just to check its not too short during full travel, and I personally cant see alot of difference. The pivot point is close to the bottom bracket, and of course its single pivot.
Does anyone know for sure if suspension travel definitely lessens the chain slack or doesnt affect it?
Cheers.

Yes, the BB to axle distances lengthens by about an inch at full travel. That's 1 full link.0
