Hi

I am fairly new to cycling and wanted to do a sportive in the south of England. Has anyone done the New Forest Rattler and if so what did they think of it? I can currently cycle about 50 miles and am planning to do the 102 miler. Any training tips?

Have done it, nice well organised race ... The sting in the tail is interesting but only short and sharp and no real prob if you walk it!!
  • Thanks Mikey23. Walking is not an option :-) Any thoughts on how to increase stamina for longer rides? I heard the New Forest Rattler is a fast ride, is that just because it's fairly flat or because of the condition of the roads.

2244ft elevation is basically flat. I did 100 miles on the flattest route I could possibly find, and it was 4,000ft elevation gain. So it looks like a good route to try your first 100 miler.

Not the ride but the sting in the tail. You wait till you see it. I don't think many ride up it!
