Has it been a similar response elsewhere?

The only time I looked into a lifetime warranty on a full suss bike it was only the front triangle that was covered and that was only if the bike was serviced by the dealer every 12 months.

If I got nearly 8 years out of a frame with the hard life that it has obviously had I would be made up, £500 divided by the mileage it was a bargain.

Yes I just googled it and I think the OP has just found out that sympathy is between sh1t and syphillis in the dictionary.

So which of Evans' competitors do we think he works for?

He doesn't blame Wiggle so he must work for them.

He is not in the bike business.

    You know him?

It was a joke. Though the frequent hit and runs do seem like people trying to spread bad sentiment.

So if I turn up 65 years later with a snapped frame they can reasonably be expected to replace?

Yup. Their terms. They said it, and is a legally binding contract. But as has been said, read what it actually says - but as I also said, IME, what I have seen, it is the lifetime of the original owner for the majority of cases.

Most warranties cover material and manufacturing defects and they usually show up reasonably quickly. A long warranty probably gives only a slightly higher risk to the manufacturer.

Not to mention that they probably factor in that most people will forget about it after a sufficient length of time or simply assume they're no longer covered so will not make a claim.

How many bikes are still with the original owner beyond four years?
I had a proper warranty dodge from Volkswagon six or seven years ago. My two year old Passat started to rust around the wheel arch, VW wouldn't repair it under warranty because it was caused by a plastic panel inside the wheel arch rubbing away the galvanising inside the panel so it was a mechanical fault and not a corrosion fault!

Certainly. My above comment was of those few that do hang on to them.

OMG so Fast Forward to 2021.
How things have changed in a massive seven years.
Well after just by chance I was doing a bit of googling about, I never expected, more like checked anything on here before and I did rant on other sites too, to see any replies from here back in those days so here goes.
The s#!t pinnacle was not worthy of any scrap so it got binned, literally.
I took off any nut, bolt, fitting for possible later use and not for my other bikes.
The Kona AA frame snapped at the rear derailleur point, whilst cycling home from work one day hence the reason for getting the full sus.
The snapped 1996 Kona AA frame receipt was eventually found in 2010 and it got replaced free of charge promptly with a brand new 2010 Kona Caldera frame, which is still being ridden today and with a number of parts taken off the crappy pinnacle.ie manitou minute 02 forks, xtr crankset, quad brakes & other bits.
Riding a full sus on Londons’ pot ridden roads helps not being flung about, you just ride the bumps like you do in the forest.
My bikes were/are regular maintained by me and on the rare occasion an ex-shop specialist to avoid their higher costs.
The S-Works M5 is still going strong and actually has had less maintenance over the 18 years than the s#1tty pinnacle ever did.
So, what is a Lifetime Warranty? Now like Kona, warrant their warranty. Yes, they did for me even after 14 years so that is true to their word.
Who knows as you say it’s either down to the manufacturer or the small print on the paper.
Some say I didn’t clean it. Well I didn’t want to make out this was a perfectly clean bike not being used. Do you clean your car when it breaks before you take it to a garage and the mechanic fixes it? Perhaps I should have polished the turd.
Speaking of cars, since December 2007 I have had my Nissan R33 Skyline and is still with me now in full working order, with an array of performance modifications plus I have another car of 4 years ownership which is my work car.
So here I have learnt another lesson in life and which won’t be my last.
    Buy cheap, buy twice.
And now with even more social media access, sometimes research, discussions, demos can pay in more ways than one.
    CASE CLOSED.
