Nukeproof mega tr as a do-it-all bike?

Seen a cracking deal on these full builds and my alpine is just not much fun for all day riding, just doesn't climb well.
As an all-rounder, how is the nukeproof mega tr? The am is a little out of my price bracket.
Bear in mind, when i say all rounder, I mean it will be used for natural trails, trail centres, local downhill tracks, uplift days etc. It will be my one bike for everything, and I'll plan on taking it down the fort bill WC track. Stuff like that.

Couple of lads at uni have them and they seem to make great all-round bikes. One has his set up slightly burlier with a lowered 35 and beefy wheels/tyres and the other is a lighter build with Revs. Both are great, the lad with the burlier build was pinning it at BPW t'other week, if he thinks it's good then it can't be bad!0

Fair play! I'd have the build with revs for now and hopefully stick pikes or something on later.
Just remembered i took my old ragley hardtail down a good few downhill tracks with no issues. I'm probably overly worrying about this!0 -
Tbh they seem so bloody good it's making me of all people question the need for a more expensive carbon bike, they seem to be bloody good bikes! I'm not overly keen on the styling, they're plastered with nukeproof logos, hardly subtle, but in ride terms from the quick spin I've had I'd say they've got huge potential. As I sat you can burly or lighter and still have a great bike0

Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the styling, but it is growing on me.0

Do it! Seriously good bikes. Handles everything you can think of without any fuss. It's still surprising me all the time how it handles some stuff. I've only got Rev's on mine but I'd still have no worries about taking it down Fort William.
Riding the steep natural trails around the Tweed Valley is no bother but take it around Glentress and it climbs well and handles the jumpy bermy stuff just as well. Can't really ask for much more from a good all rounder. The frame is slightly heavier than some but it's stiff and strong so it's a good compromise.
See my thread on mine if you want a little more detailed info on it.0 -
I use mine for everything you want it for. It climbs better than most, I never feel the need to use the pedal platform on the shock. I have done 75km rides on it and got off feeling fresh at the end.
It's proper good fun on the descents, the rear is a bit firm due to the short travel but it has a nice rising rate so you do get reasonable small bump sensitivity without it blowing through travel. It took me a while to get set right but the Monarch shock is pretty good.
It happily takes abuse on downhill trails. Mine has been down Enter The Dragon at BPW, not as fast as my dh bike but it was fine on all the big jumps (it flies off jumps!) and drops and really impressed me with the speed I could carry in the rock garden..
It's not the lightest frame but it's a good compromise between strength and weight. Mine weighs 30lb dead, if I wanted to I could loose a couple pounds easily.
It's the most fun trail bike I have had so far.
I have mine built with Revelations and I think they suit it well.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Do it mate, I have the 2014 AM and even that's decent at climbing (and sooooo good downhill). The TR will make an excellent do it all bike.

Out of interest, what wheel size you gone for and did it really matter to you anyway?0

I went for 26". I'd have given 27.5 a try, but it was only the 26" that was on sale, so it wasn't an option.0

When I bought mine it was an extra £600 for the 650b version, I didn't even have to think about it.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
