Common bolt sizes on bikes

Hi, looking for maybe some sort of list of common bolt sizes found on bikes, stems, brake mount bolts, cable bosses, bottle cages, chainrings etc.

Also how do I measure a bolt to find out what m size I need?

    Measure the diameter of the thread.

    Parktools lists most sizes and where they are on the bike as does Sheldon.

    Some of them use odd pitch threads as well.

    So basically when it says 6mm it's an m6 bolt. Is that measured across its thread or the head.

    But different M6 bolts can have different thread pitch, different lengths and have non standard bolt head diameter and form......
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
