whats the best way to wick sweat away from my head?

i currently use a halo band, which in general works quite well but it becomes so saturated and doesnt have any airflow over it so it doesnt dry.

What do people use?

I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

I have heard of people putting vaseline above their eyebrows so the sweat doesnt run into their eyes. Not tried it myself, i just wipe it away with my thumb.

Problem is I sweat a lot, that's why I'm wondering if there is anything better. The halo is good as it has a gutter if you like, but just gets sooooooo wet as it's away from all venting !

Tried a bandana under your helmet? Should soak up most of the sweat from your head (ok you'll still get some from your forehead) and will get dried through your helmet. On that note, I take it your helmet's got good vents?

I wear a standard cycling cap for this reason which seems to work pretty well. I sweat quite a bit too.

Pretty standard technique to keep sweat away from the eyes, used to do it every time I played rugby. It certainly seemed to work then.
I'm just going out for a ride so I'll give it a try and report back.

Wear a cotton cap under your helmet. They cost about £5 in LBS bargain bins. And Prendas do three for a tenner.

I don't wear a helmet, and have a #0 buzzcut. Was out for 3 hours in the sun yesterday and had no problem with sweat. Head was nice and cool.

    Works for me.

I have the every same issue, bought a Planet X cotton cycling cap which helped and kept the sweat out of my eyes as it just drips off the peak rather than running down your forehead, but it did get soaked through really quick. So looked around and found that Giro do a Peleton cap, which is like their standard cotton cap in shape, but is made of thinner wicking material, worked great so bought a couple. Bought them from Amazon for I think £20, so a bit pricier than a standard cotton one, but in my situation worth it :-

Does your helmet fit properly? And does it have padding inside to soak up sweat? I ask as both my Specialized helmets (Previal and Evade) can be adjusted to fit perfectly and then no sweat septs down my forehead. The inside of the helmet when I get home is dipping wet and always gets a good clean.

Also, as someone else said, cycle faster. I dropped a water bottle today and had to stop. In the 30 seconds of not moving the sweat started to materialise on my body. As soon as I re-started the air soon dried the sweat.

Helmet fits fine and has the fitting system, I sweat so much that the pads are too full and then it drops down.

I use a Camelbak Coolmax type material headband, don't think they are available now, it has two thin layers stitched together and does an excellent job of soaking up perspiration. I take two out with me and keep swopping between them as they dry quickly. Best headbands I've used, don't know if you could buy something similar, might be worth a search.

Just bought a castelli summer head band . Does look like " you cannot be serious " quote from that famous tennis player ! . I have a kask helmet . On a climbing day the pads do fill up and drip down on the oakleys or down over the face . Works fantastic . Not a drip in this heat were having . Also by the time I got home . The band had dried out .

Works well, if you do it in a wide inverted v shape 2/3rds up your forehead down to the ear lobes it gives you maximum run off
