front hub bearings worn out.

Not riding today and front hub felt a bit notchy so figured I'd see if I could get away with servicing the bearings.
Popped wheel and rotor off, hub caps off and exposed bearings.
Seal removed and bearings exposed. Pretty grease-free and looking more muddy than greasey
Cleaned up and surprisingly still pretty shiny. Got hopeful at this point that fresh grease will sort out the play.
Loads of bearing grease worked in and around the bearings. Feel pretty sweet now.
Put back together and not noisy anymore. Still have a bit of play though. New bearings needed I guess. Never mind. I had fun fiddling

It's never worth the effort of re greasing sealed bearings. The seals are obviously no good and once bearings have started pitting they deteriorate fast.
Look up Koyo bearings, best quality I have found by a long way.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Yeah, I know you're right. Had to get access to see what bearings they are to order new ones, so figured I'd chuck in some grease to see what happened. Very little as it turns out but got my hands dirty so feel like I did something today now lol0
