Arran, did you go for the mahogany or did something else catch your eye?
Did you go for the Bolivian rosewood for the floor in the room that houses your ivory collection.

I stuck with the mahogany for the decking as the Madagascan Ebony garden furniture goes very well on it.

You are correct that the Bolivian Rosewood looks particularly good next to the ivory and as for the snow leopard skins on the wall, well......

It was very good of Piña to bring this to my attention.

So let me get this right. No one should buy timber from the amazon rainforest as some of it is illegal? Where is the proof that these companies have bought illegally forested timber? I usually want proof of a crime before I boycott a company and claim them to be immoral. What happens to the companies operating legally should they go bust too?

I am getting a large wind turbine next to my house in the near future thanks to the likes of Greenpeace. Good news is that the farmer will get rich through tax payer subsidies and we will pay through higher electricity prices and general taxation. Still it is good to see all those trees being logged for biomass plants in Cumbria which Greenpeace are so in favour of.

We can all do our bit to help here by referring to timber decking as "duck boards" which is what it basically is. That and supremely naff. Is there a petition to ban it regardless of where it comes from?

You realise timber for biomass comes from either sustainable forests or recycled off cuts etc. don't you?

Can we have a petition to ban wooden flooring instead?

Being supremely rich, but modest beyond compare, I live in a terraced house, and both my neighbours have wooden flooring. I don't know how either of them can put up with the amount of nagging they get from their better halves, as they don't get anywhere near enough sex (thank god  ) to compensate!
If you (and I do mean YOU) have wooden flooring, you have no secrets from your neighbours. Just bare that in mind next time you discuss something a bit, "touchy".

Jewson = Saint Gobain Corporation (France). An exceptionally powerful company. I have seen them at work in the corporate world, where they directly/indirectly managed to remove the UK MD of a major supplier to Jewson.
I would imagine they have massive influence in many quarters of industry and politics, so their involvement in the decimation of rain forests should come as no surprise.

If you look at some of the other threads, I think the French would be quite happy for me to move in. Maybe, you're the one's who need to cast a glimpse over your shoulders from time to time.
