Does 11 speed gearing put more strain on the mech hanger than 10 speed? Maybe the spring in the mech is stiffer or something?

Why would you think this? AFAIK, the springs are actually weaker in the 11 speed than the old 10 speed mechs.

Maybe the hanger has to have less flex due to the precision required for 11 cogs in the space of 10?

The hanger shouldn't have any flex in it. Why do you ask?

I recently bought a Colnago EP 2008 brand new. The rear shifting has got steadily worse since I built it. I can set it to change up or down but not both. It just hangs around the 4th and 5th cogs. Ive looked at everything and concluded the hanger is too flexy. I have just changed the hanger for a new Colnago one and the shifting is fine, for how long I dont know. I have tried to find an after market hanger but nobody makes this particular model.
