Few of us are off to the South of France on Sunday, hiking, biking, white water rafting etc, can't wait!

Anyone been across there, particularly the Ugine region, and got any recommendations for some XC MTB trails? Lad who owns the chalet we're staying in has got some ideas, but it's always worth asking around too! :)

Megéve supposedly has some trails, and I remember signs for mountain biking over towards Faverges on the way to Annecy.

It's kind of a dead area really.

The main biking areas are around the ski resorts. Take Morzine as an example. All you hear about from there is the lift-assisted downhills. Thing is, it also has a metric fuckton of xc stuff to try out, but most people never hear about it.

Ugine is sort of in that spot between the main ski areas, so you're less likely to find actual dedicated xc and more likely to find walkers paths, riverside rides and stuff like that. You should be able to find real off-road stuff just by looking. Best bet when you get to Ugine, is to go and find a tourist centre and ask. Even if they don't know of trails, they'll be able to get you in the direction of walkers trails in the area, and maybe even a map that'll show smallish trails you could link together into proper rides.

If you do find stuff worth writing home about, I'd love to be able to add Ugine to my site as somewhere that's possible to ride. Give me a shout and I'll throw something together.
