Hi ,
I'm looking to buy a used Rockshox fork for my build, needed some advice.
could someone please briefly explain the models that are out there and their heirachy in its product line, the names I am regularly seeing are Reba's Solo Air / Dual Air , XC30, Judy, Recon etc

my limited understanding is the following would be the range from low end to higher, have I got that right?

XC30
Recon
Reba Solo
Reba Dual
Judy (?)

And assuming I am looking for something that is in good condition, serviced not too long ago and no leaks/defects other then cosmetic, what kind of used price range for these would you consider a Good bargain->High price

my budget is between £80 to £180, really it depends on whats a good deal and low maintenance.

thanks!

you could get brand new recon gold tk's for £180

My dual air Rebas were in good condition when I sold them and they went for £140. Thats what I would be looking for if I were you. They stopped making dual air forks in 2013 so look for 2011/2012 to get the extra adjustability. Budget for a service. You may get lucky but you may need to send them away to get them as good as they can be.

What sort of fork and travel and fork do you require?

From the look of his list, a 100-120mm travel, cheap XC fork

Anything from recon gold TK's upwards will be fine, unless you have a very specific need.

no specific needs, just 100mm-120mm travel & lockout.

    ok heres where I'm at:

    Do I buy a new XC30 for around £90

or spend about £140 on a used Reba

I'm also not familiar with the kind of deterioration you would expect in a used fork over time, if they are something that can just keep going with right care.

Also note, i am not going to be doing any serious kind of mountain biking anytime soon, easy off road trails, but I do want something I can build up over time. So the real question is, myself as a beginner - would I notice a difference in the 2 forks (even if they were both new).

many thanks in advance for all your advice.

You will notice the difference. The Reba will flex less, is better damped and is much lighter.
As long as it's a good one go for the Reba.
