New Bike

Possibly the two most exciting words in the English Language......new and bike.
I have in the region of £2000 to spend on a new road bike. It will be used to provide variety to my Giant Defy 1 which I'll be using to cycle at least 50 miles every day for 50 consecutive days starting 24 May 14. The local terrain is best described as undulating.
I need to max out on comfort, I won't be racing it or tearing up the tarmac, 13 to 17mph depending on terrain. I am 51 years old, 5' 11" and 15st 3lbs (but falling).
I am technically and mechanically inept so building my own is very definitely not an option.
Suggestions?
Ali

Take a look at the Trek Domane with its Isospeed rubbery bit between the seat and top tubes.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

Nice review - http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/cate ... -14-48157/
An early contender especially if I throw on some Continental tyres.Getting older and wanting to go further

Spa Cycles Titanium Audax: http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php ... b0s21p2994 I'd go for the wheel upgrade and maybe rival instead of aApex. Nice bike to eat up the miles.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

Have you considered the Cannondale Synapse (Shimano 105 at £1850) or the Focus Izalco Ergoride 2.0 (full Ultegra at £1999) - both got 5 stars in the recent Cycling Plus Bike of the Year.0

Read the Cannondale review last night and found myself drooling onto the magazine.
I sense a few test rides coming on in the next week or so.....tough life!Getting older and wanting to go further

Yes, the Synapse looks great & of course there is a disc brake version. Out of the major brands mentioned above, I'd go for the 'Dale.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

I hired a Synapse in Gran Canaria, it had Ultegra I think. Was a nice enough bike, just a bit "dull". Might have been a model a few down from yours as for £2000k you could get better wheels that I had.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels
