Pedals & shoes?

advise please.
i have had my first road bike for 4 weeks now and covered 150 miles or so. I feel that I would benefit from the clip less pedals and shoes now but i am a bit stuck on what to get. I have been looking on wiggle and the price ranges are massive and i cant see how they can differ that much. i know that it is probably best to go into a store and check the fit of a shoe but the price difference is considerable between store and online.
Can anyone give me a combination of both pedals and shoes to get me started?
not sure if it is relevant but my bike is a Merida ride alloy 90.
thanks

You can't go far wrong with Shimano pedals and shoes. The cheaper shimano range are good quality.

Make sure you practice clipping in and out lots at home before you go out. A visit to your local bike shop would be of great help I'm sure.1998 Kona Cindercone in singlespeed commute spec

I bought Shimano M064 shoes and Shimano M520 pedals when I was in the same place as you 18months ago, added up to under 70 quid I think.
I'm still using them as they do the job I ask of them.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I think I will go for the ones detailed on the link. Might try the lbs though to make sure they fit and comfortable.0 -
Decided to go with the pd/R550 pedals and now need to choose the shoe. Can't decide between these two...any help? I believe both are compatible
