Hi, the other day I took my bike down to go for a ride and noticed that the chain was slack. After further inspection I discovered that the derailleur cage wasn't springing back to take up the slack. Are there any ways to fix this or do I need a new derailleur?
(Its a shimano deore derailleur?

Perhaps you can undo 1. here:

And hook back in the spring

    You're not overly aware then!

As you say in your link - you can undo the b-axle assembly. Remove the mech, usually a circlip on the back of the bolt, then the spring will come out. Clean it all up, flush with GT85, grease and reassamble. A bit of a 3-hand job as you need to then rotate the spring, so it's 'engaged' before you refit the circlip. Weirdly had to do it on the Dura Ace mech on my road bike yesterday which had gone stiff, took about 20 minutes including a decent clean of the mech and fitting new jockey wheels.
