Hi All,

The last winter did too much damage to my 2007 Specialized Sirus Comp. Unfortunately I currently don't have the time to fix it but I need a bike for getting to work and summer 100 mile rides. Though I'll probably get second hand Tiagra and patch it up for next winter.

My budget is £500 and I'm thinking of getting the Verenti Belief but it doesn't have eyelets for a rack.

I've been looking around for solutions and I'll either go for the tubus clamp and extension setup or one like http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/axiom-streamliner-road-dlx-rear-rack-prod28144/

Before I spend the money do you have any better ideas?
Is it a good idea to put a rack on a bike that is not designed to have one fitted, the tubes do look pretty thin!
Is there a similar spec bike with eyelets out there and is within my budget?
Also is the Belief a race geometry or more relaxed? I've not really read up on the different types of frame.

Cheers!

I use this for commuting purposes:

Very good, and just 45mm of exposed seatpost. I had a rack an panniers before and find this a neater solution for commuting

Hey, thanks for the idea CTC, I've been looking into it and it seems like a good idea. My seat post is Alu so should be fine.

However how much seat post does it block, it looks like it will block any light I have attached to the seat post. Is it easy to attach lights to the bag?

    Cheers!

It does block lights on the seatpost. There is a loop on the bag you can clip a light onto, or I use a Lezyne micro drive lower down on the seat tube
