Rear derailleur gear cable snapped...

..,after less than 10 rides :shock: Bike (Kinesis Crosslight Pro 6) was recently built up by LBS. Cable seems to have snapped clean at the Allen bolt where the cable connects to the SRAM Rival RD. Cable was the original that came with the Rival brifters and the shifting had been utterly flawless up to that point.

Never had this happen before - could this be down to LBS over tightening the bolt with the cable going through it, or just one of those things?

    Unless you have been unlucky and the cable had a manufacturing defect, it has most likely been crushed and fractured due to over-tightening of the clamp bolt/anchor plate.
