Sticky freehub
Got an issue with my rear wheel - chain jumps when I pedal backwards, pedals rotate when I'm pushing the bike.
I've got Mavics and this appears to be a fairly common issue. I'm going to take apart the hub and clean it out.
Can anyone give any tips? Is it fairly easy? How should I clean it, and do I need to regrease or oil? Have been checking out YouTube as well.
Thanks

The freehub comes apart pretty easy but watch out for the pawls and small springs. Take the freehub body off carefully so they don't fly off.
You need to use a light oil to lubricate the freehub, definitely not grease otherwise the freehub will drag. I use something like 3 in 1 oil after cleaning everything up thoroughly.0 -
don't pedal backwards
is the freehub new? they can start out a bit sticky but then ease over time as excess lube gets squished out
alternatively if it's old and dirty it probably needs servicing

Thanks for the link - very helpful.
All sorted now - wheel spinning nice and free, and no movement in the pedals.
Not sure what the problem was as it didn't seem that dirty. Guessing it was just lacking a bit of lubricant.
