Hello There,

Bored of cycling alone, I was wondering if there are any groups, people cycling tomorrow morning in S.West London? I usually either head down and into the Kent/ Surrey hills but seeing as tomorrow's weather looks disgusting I was going to spin round Richmond until the wind saps my legs.

Not really ridden in/ with a group before other than Sportives every now and then.

WK!

I think the largest population of recreational cyclists are in sw London so I'm sure you will find someone to cycle with in Richmond. Just head to the park sure there will be a nber of people around there.

I'm based in Guildford and see a lot of SW London clubs come down into the Surrey Hills, Kingston Wheelers are a pretty friendly bunch who run the occasional TT in my area. Then as already mentioned you have Twickneham CC who seem slightly more racy, and London Dynamo- the serious ones who I believe are the club who have a reputation for not being very friendly towards outsiders (their website seems to back this up).

London Dynamo - they do have a unique understanding of what being in a club means, for some a Surrey League race or similar needs to be ridden in full Pro-Tour stylee, including deliberately blocking riders and forcing overtakes into on-coming traffic. They did a great job of trying to control the first 6 laps of the race and don't think any finished in the top-20, 2 laps later!

London Dynamo are the reason even cyclists hate cyclists. I recently posted on a thread about the utter stupidity in coming down the steep hill in Richmond Park, the wrong side of the road (my side, head on) at about 60kph! Then swearing at me when I've done absolutely nothing wrong except vigorously point out that my side isn't their side. I am puzzled as to why they feel they own RP, feel the need to cycle across the full width of the road, both sides that is and also abuse cars and drivers who are, understandably irritated at the absurd way they treat the road.

They are moronic, foolish and soon, hopefully, they'll get a jolly good telling off before they cause a big accident for someone like myself who is there to enjoy himself and 'train' to the best of what I can.

As mentioned Kingston Wheelers or Twickenham CC are worth a ride.

TCC do their social ride on Saturdays. I'm not a big fan of the dual carriageway route out of London. They head West.
KW is a Sunday run, many rides of all levels, some head West, most down into the Surrey Hills.

    Hello,

If you can make it out to Ashtead (the other side of Epsom) there is a brilliant Cafe "club" called Bike Beans.

I ride with them often on weekends, they are really friendly. It is based around a cafe, not a club, so there's none of the macho testo-superiority boll0cks that Dynamo spout on their website (other UpTheirAr$e clubs are available). It's not too local to me, but I spent a few weeks trying to find a group to ride with that were convenient, welcoming, had a ride at my ability level, the possibility of improving and most of all having fun.....

Every Sunday there are small group rides all levels. I usually go with the "10am Developers" which is about 40-45km at 20-22 kmh average. Usually between 6 and 12 people on that one. I often ride the 20 km from home and back too, or drive if I'm not feeling energetic. There are two other rides earlier on Sundays (Intermediate and Fast) which are longer and faster. Plus weekday rides, spinning, charity rides, MTB rides and plenty of social stuff.

Best of all, the cafe is run by a Scottish bloke - makes me feel at home!

If you're daunted by riding with a "proper" cycling club.

Look on Meetup and check out the likes of Richmond Park Cycling Club and also Bike-a-licious. I ride with both.

A bit more casual than full cycling clubs. They mainly meet on Sundays (sometimes Saturdays too, but there's also lots of rides where peeps will just message each other and ask "who fancies a spin tonight / tomorrow" etc.

    Good social side too!
