It all used to be so much easier...anyway, do Miche brakes take Campag style or Shimano style pads? And how do you tell the difference??? (Old bike had Tektros with Shimano style, new bike's all Italian...)

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Shimano uses a narrower retainer so they're not interchangeable with Campagnolo - something like 6mm vs 7mm. Check with your LBS if not sure
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Or just get new pads with a new holder and slap the whole lot in.

Swap out the existing cartridges and replace them with some Ashima Ultralights

Had some Forme branded calipers on my Alu bike build (probably Tektro or similar) that were a bit dodgy in the stopping power dept. Switched out the supplied cartridges with Ashima's and the difference was remarkable.

At the end of the day it's usually down to the quality of the pads rather than the calipers themselves.
