Hi,
I have just bought a frame and headset from ribble cycles, and they have recommended the headset I have bought for this frame however, the bottom bearing goes in fine, but the top bearing will not properly place in. I have tried everything, even getting a hammer and cloth to try and bang it in but it wont budge. Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks

Have your read how to fit headsets on Parktools?
Having no idea what the parts you have all I can say is take it to someone who knows about bikes before you damage something."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
No will look at the park tools read now.
I have fit headsets before so not sure why it is not going in, as I said the bottom bearing fits fine. the top is just sticking out slightly.
The frame is the Ribble 7005 audax, and the headset is the ribble 1 1/8 its hidden headset (45*45) which is what they have recommended so I'm not sure.
Have stopped trying to force it in, will give it another go tomorrow if no joy then will contact them maybe.0 -
Chances are it's meant to be like that and the headset cap will cover it.0

I thought that as well, however the bearing is easily removable when placed in the top0

It won't be easily removable once you tighten down with the top cap bolt. This is exactly the same as 2 of my bikes that have drop in bearings.0

Telephone Ribble and explain your problem and ask for advice. Do not try to hammer the bearing in you will ruin it.0
