Hi all
Picking up a sworks venge in Italy on Monday since UK has got no 52cm,I've bought a new dura ace di2 7970 groupset which has been sitting in the cupboard for months and wondering if firstly is it easy for a mechanic to install the groupset(as everyone seems to say its complicated),and where would the battery go?I don't really like the battery look under the bottle cage.
Thanks

Do you an integrated seatpost battery?
On mine it's inside the seatpost (really neat way of doing it).
Otherwise it's via a bottle cage mount.
It's an easy build to do - just follow the park tools/shimano guide.0 -
You totally need the integrated battery.
Hanging the battery off the frame of an aero bike is just silly…!0 -
No I havnt got the internal battery, where is the best place to get one from,I've googled it but all that's comes up is the internal battery charger.can you still use the standard charger or do you have to buy the internal changer and internal battery0

I'm pretty sure the internal battery from Shimano isn't DA7970 compatible. You would have to go with a third party option.

Yeah you'd need the new 11 speed Di2 to use the internal battery.0

Calfee in the States did an internal battery for 7970, but I don't know whether it is available in the UK. As others have said the Shimano internal battery does not work with 7970 as they changed the diameter of the cables after the first generation Di2.0

Wait your driving to Italy to collect it?0

Great way to get a bike !
Lucca is a lovely place, great walk around the town on the walls, some lovely old squares and good coffee.0 -

This should be interesting…..0 -
1) Internal battery may be an issue with aero post.
2) Internal battery needs separate charger to normal as it charges through the handlebar port
3) I had my battery on my venge on the BB/chainstay area. Two options for holding it there. a) use the short bottle cage mount and cable ties or b) (the one I did) use the short bottle cage mount mounted onto a metal bracket with screw fittings in the holes on the bottom bracket. The first hole is the screw hold for the plate you remove when fitting the Di2 system and the second is the hold for gear cable which is now redundant. This has no thread but a rubber grommet ensured a tight contact fit. Sounds Heath Robinson but worked perfectly for me for over my three years of Venge ownership and looked just like the Giant Propels, etc. that have dedicated screw fittings on the chainstays.0 -
Manage to somewhere drive past the cycling shop on the way to the hotel,we popped in saw the frame and had to distract her while I paid for the "£300" bargain of the century for a sworks venge limited edition.if she knew how much I really paid I wouldn't be alive to tell the tail.0
