Watching the giro today, I noticed some of the riders had small mustards fitted to their saddles.

Anyone know what they are?

Haha hadn't noticed that, surely the French riders would be more Dijon though?

I was completely underwhelmed with mine last year. It didn't even leave the house.

I thought the riders looked daft with them on today.

They save your bib shorts from taking on a kilo of water spray and your jersey from a big shi**y smear. Used mine during Etape Loch Ness last weekend. Stick it in your bag just incase it hoor's it down on the day.

my saddle has a cut out, so aside from greatly reducing spray on my back it also prevents a cold water enema when hitting a puddle

i have one for the commute bike too, very effective

how well they work does vary with geometry/size and also saddle rail design

So you decided you didn't like it, and that it didn't work, without even trying it?

    Interesting way.

They are plain wrong for reasons of style (F**K UGLY) and manners ( IM ALRIGHT JACK SO HAVE SOME SPRAY IN YOUR CHOPS)

Well if you're racing you're not allowed full guards anyway, so these at least will keep your arse dry.

    this

aside from a club run with a mudguards rule, there's no reason to spare a thought for opportunistic drafters, anyone who objects to a faceful of spray can either drop back or pass, no one's forcing them to sit there

    This.

I'll use full guards in winter for club runs but it isn't winter so this is perfect.

Easy enough to have on the best (non mudguarded) bike.

When not needed they fold away beneath the saddle. Definitely worth a go at £6.

I bought one and used it for the winter, it does what it says on the tin and saves your ass. At £6 it's well worth it.

I have a set of clip on SKS raceblades for when it eventually rains in the summer. It saves most of the bike (and you/ others) from getting filthy, and when out on club rides are totally essential.

I absolutely, completely hate someone without guards barging past on a club run and getting sprayed because they think 'they don't look cool', even if it is in the summer.
