I know there not meant to be used with just one ring up front but does anyone use it like this ????

I reckon it will work better with one ring opposed to two, if your gearing is set correctly

No reason why it won't work.

They were originally designed to run with OBD ring, but with a slightly different roller.

But if will work fine.
